Gift Card Holder and Journal

Kelly has a birthday party tonight, so I made her friend Bidisha a journal. Kelly says she likes purple and green, so I used green and purple fabric. I love making journals!

I used iron on adhesive to attach the fabric to the card board (which I collect from my work at Target - everyone knows to save me stuff!). I added the purple fabric over the green with the same adhesive. It is closes with a magnet that I enclosed in the purple fabric (also from work, I used the backings from name tags that fell apart!).

When I made the holes using the McGill 1/4" paper drill, I put masking tape on both the cover and the back. This prevents the fabric from tearing when you're drilling! This drill works so great on thick journals.

I used a Japanese ribbon binding technique (searching on the internet of course). The length of ribbon is 3 times the circumference.

I also made a gift card holder for the Target gift card (of course), using the technique from Stamptv.com
